How to Install a Watch Face on Your Samsung Galaxy Watch

Let's be honest — the stock watch faces on a Galaxy Watch get boring fast. The good news is that swapping in something new (like our own Vintage Train watch face, if you're into that whole classic-dial look) takes about two minutes once you know where to tap. Here's how.

Quick check before you dive in

A few things need to be true first:

• Your watch is actually paired to your phone over Bluetooth
• You've got the Galaxy Wearable app installed (grab it from the Play Store if not)
• Your phone has an internet connection — Wi-Fi or mobile data, doesn't matter which

One note: if you're on a Galaxy Watch4 or newer, you're running Wear OS, which means you'll need an Android phone and the Wearable app to manage anything on the watch. Older models (Watch3, Active2) work a little differently — more on that below.

Option 1: Do it from your phone

Honestly, this is the way to go if you want to actually see what you're picking instead of squinting at a tiny screen.

1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
2. Tap Watch faces.
3. Scroll down past the default options and hit Get more watch faces — this drops you into the Play Store's watch face section.
4. Type in whatever you're looking for (try "Vintage Train" if you want ours), tap it, then hit Install.
5. That's it. It'll show up both in the app and on your actual watch within a few seconds.

Option 2: Do it straight from your wrist

No phone needed for this one.

1. Press and hold your current watch face — you'll feel a little buzz and a selection screen pops up.
2. Swipe left past your installed faces until you hit More watch faces.
3. Either scroll through what's featured or tap the search icon and type a name.
4. Pick one and tap Install. If it's paid, you'll get a Play Store notification on your phone to finish the purchase.

Making it your own

Once installed, most faces — ours included — let you fiddle with the details:

• On your phone: Wearable app → Watch faces → tap the face → Customize → play with colors, hands, or add complications (little widgets for weather, steps, battery, whatever) → Save.
• On your watch: Hold down on the home screen → tap the face → Customize → tweak away → press the Power button to lock it in.

Common hiccups

• Can't find "Get more watch faces"? It's easy to miss — keep scrolling, it's right at the bottom of the tab.
• Installed it but don't see it? Give the Wearable app a second to sync, or just close and reopen it.
• Running an older Watch3 or Active2? You're on Tizen instead of Wear OS, but the menus in the Wearable app look basically identical, so the steps above still apply.
